The Gangrel Mystics in Modern Nights.

Around the time the Gangrel left the Camarilla and became an Independent clan they also underwent a massive internal upheaval.

In England a Gangrel by the name of Gareth Thomas declared that he was a Follower of the Old Ways, and that any Gangrel who chose to join with him would gain understanding of mysteries once forgotten but now relearned.

A large number of Gangrel within the UK flocked to his call, he had been a very active member of the Occult world for some few years and had developed quite cult.

Those that chose to follow him forswore the discipline of Protean, sacrificing the Beast Within at a massive ritual held on Imbolc in 2000.

When the ritual finished the Gangrel noticed the ability to see Ley Lines, command the very Earth around them to erupt at their call and even more sinister things.

Some Kindred Scholars believe this to be a manifestation of their own twisted form of True Faith, however the truth is far worse than that.

Those that undergo the ritual, or are Embraced by these sort of Gangrel become Lhiannon.

The Forgotton Past of the Lhiannon

Lhianon never considered themselves Vampires, but beings imbued by the Spirit of Nature, touched by old pagan gods or things that become gods over time.

The Lhiannon formed Cults around themselves, which acted as Food, Protection and Defense in times of need.

And whilst many of the Older Lhiannon were solitary creatures, the younger ones grouped together to form Covens so they might spread their influence further afield.

It is said that that the Elder Lhiannon were not able to go far from the Glades or Holy places they tended to, whilst the Younger ones could travel many miles away from where they had their haves and holy places.

However, it is said that other kindred grew suspicious of their powers, none more so than the Tremere or Tzimisce, each of whom were well versed in the Occult ways. The Ventrue and Nosferatu worked hand in hand to form a Crusade of sorts against the Lhiannon, and with the aid of the Tremere the blood line was thought to be hunted to extinction, with only one or two elders remaining in Europe and a a handful in England which was the main bastion of worship & holy places for the Lhiannon.

Recent history of the Lhiannon

In the late Victorian era however some began to stir once more, and over a long period of years wound theur way back in to the world, bringing with them a new wave of Paganism and what has evolved in to Modern Witchcraft.

The Tremere recognised the Lhiannon for what they were and entreatied them in to an alliance.

The Tremere delegation was lead by Erastus Trimagestus, who in the past had had dealings with the Lhiannon successfully in the past.

Erastus met with a woman known only as "The Crone", apparently a Title of the highest order amongst her kind.

During the meeting another delegate spoke long with the female elder of the Lhiannon and offered her lands and peace where she dwelled in Kent.

The Crone accepted the offer, seeing something that she might use in the "Duchess of Kent" and took residence in a woodlands where she might once more grow to know the world.

Then, in 1994 the Duchess of Kent asked that The Crone sire some one, promising that after one year the vampire would be returned to her to do with as she so pleased.

Using many methods of scrying the Crone eventually agreed to the offer and a young man, Gareth Thomas already a firm believer in The Old Ways, was bought to her.

True to her word the Duchess of Kent returned the neonate to The Crone, and at that point the Crone chose to be known as Madga, revealing herself to the suprisingly powerful young vampire.

For the next five years the pair wove a large coven about themselves, and grew in power amongst the mortals within the Occult world.

Then in the year 2000 Gareth enacted his ritual, and over thirty Gangrel were changed forever.

Since then Gareth has become even more of a powerhouse in Occult circles, and within the Gangrel clan. Whilst many of the more traditional Gangrel hold no love for him they respect what he has accomplished.

Recently he has even changed his name to Dagda Lhiannon and become Archon to the Tremere Justicar, the former Duchess of Kent, Dominique StSyr.

Each night when he wakes and goes through his rituals he offers thanks to Magda, Dominique and a variety of Gods, for with out any of them he would be but an adult mortal in a very dangerous world.

With out the Gift from Magda he would never have found his true path in unlife.

With out Dominique the Lhiannon would still be but a scattered half dozen Elders fearful of modern nights and science.
